New Drum Cover

I've been busy with the Mydols, learning the songs and preparing for gigs so I haven't been able to work on any new drum covers. Now that we are between gigs and I feel comfortable enough to only practice each Mydols song once a day instead of 5 times each day, I have time to work on drum cover videos again. I'm learning a lot from being in the band including the confidence to attempt to learn a drum cover by ear. In the past I learned all my drum covers from reading the music for the song. Now, it's time to try doing it by ear only. So I did. With a little help from my new drum teacher and a lot of daily practicing, I finally got through my first by-ear drum cover. It's not exact or perfect, but I feel a solid attempt for my first try.  :)

That Thing You Do!

Last night Tony and I wanted to watch a movie so we decided to see what was free on cable. We came across the Tom Hanks movie from 1996, "That Thing You Do!". What a fun movie! I found myself grinning from ear to ear throughout most of the movie. It made me think how happy and thankful I am to be a part of a band. (even though the band in the movie does break up in the end) Unlike many other movies about bands this one actually had the spotlight on the drummer! How cool is that!
